Black Brilliant Chrome (BBC) - exclusive and functional
Surface finishing is a very topical issue in the automotive industry. BBC offers dark metal optics and haptics with simultaneous corrosion resistance. Black Brilliant Chrome (BBC) is a new anthracite black surface developed for this application. In the production process, a black carbon layer is applied to a chromium subsoil. This combination layer fulfills the requirements of the automotive industry in corrosion resistance and scratch resistance (approx. 900 HV) and has a metallic haptic and optics. The basis of the BBC coating is a high gloss or matt chromium surface, which is only altered in color by the PVD coating, the structure and the surface remain. The process is suitable both for plastics and for metals, thus enabling the greatest possible color homogeneity within whole assemblies.
